UOB Preferred Visa (Preferred Platinum) review (2026)

One of the most idiot-proof cards in the miles game: pay with your phone, get 4 mpd — dining, groceries, even MRT rides. The caps got split and the name changed in 2026 (formerly Preferred Platinum), but the strategy stays the same.
Great for
Use it for
on mobile contactless — tap your phone or watch
on selected online shopping, dining and groceries
Watch out for
- Physical card taps don't earn the bonus — it has to be your phone or watch.
- The cap is split: S$600/month for contactless and a separate S$600 for online. You can't shift between them.
- UNI$ accrue per S$5 block — transactions under S$5 earn nothing at all.

Is this the same card as the UOB Preferred Platinum Visa?
Yes — UOB renamed the Preferred Platinum Visa ('PPV') to UOB Preferred Visa in March 2026 and upgraded it to Visa Signature tier. Same 4 mpd strategy.
What changed in October 2025?
The single bonus cap was split into two S$600 sub-caps — one for mobile contactless, one for selected online spend. You can't shift unused cap between them.
Does tapping the physical card earn 4 mpd?
No — only phone or watch taps earn the bonus. Plastic payWave earns base rate (0.4 mpd).
